"Use what talents you possess: the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best."
– Henry Van Dyke
We live in a life of comparison. We look around and see who is the most muscular, who is the best looking, and who is the best singer, but the question is why? Is it a way for us to feed our pride, or is it because we are lacking focusing on ourselves?
Humans have an animalistic nature to compete with each other in about every facet. From who can run the fastest to who has the best car. People will push the envelope to get themselves noticed, but in reality what they should be doing is focusing on themselves.
You see you and I were made as divine inspiration by God. He allowed the random genetic code to pain a picture of what our parents looked like and this turned out a beautiful masterpiece. As kids we don't know anything but ourselves and that is why kids learn the most when they are younger. They are pliable in both body and in mind, but as we age we start to become rigid and fall for temptations given to us in the world which leads to deterioration of focus.
My mom always would look at me and tell me: "Son, God doesn't make junk, mistakes, or excuses." Why? Simply, we are all created with great purpose. We must learn to be less focused on our own egos and more focused on bringing out our reason for being. There will always be some fad, some new trick, some new clothes, etc. The question is as changing as the world is have you kept yourself intact? Have you discovered who YOU really are? Have you stopped singing because someone told you that you couldn't make it? Have you stopped playing music because of a bad review? Cooking because you burnt something? Stopped working out because you're too busy? Excuses are just cop outs on progress, and a human being we were made for internal progress.
Take a moment and evaluate your position today, and remember that it is NEVER too late to be the real you.
Peace and Love
